Introducing the pill that kills that craving (and a whole lot more) to go shopping. Yet another miracle drug from a Huntingdon Life Sciences customer.

The drumbeat for vivisection thunders loud about the important life-saving benefits of animal research. The major pharmaceutical players, in a multi-billion dollar a year industry, keep cranking out all the new pills for all the new fashionable diseases. You would think that, without these important companies and their miraculous products, many in America would be suffering from depression, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, and other such horrendous ailments. Err, wait, they are.

The latest from our friends at Forest Laboratories, a long time HLS customer, is a little drug called Celexa. It was made and marketed to those who suffer from that uniquely American disease called CSD (compulsive shopping disorder). Can't control the urge to buy another pair of shoes, jewelry, or household appliance - just pop one of these suckers and let the chemicals do their magic. Never mind the side effects - diarrhea, insomnia, and problems with sexual arousal - there are pills for all of those issues too!

The sad reality of this newest drug, besides the pathetic social commentary it passes on our culture, is that an untold number of otherwise healthy animals were tortured and killed for it. Celexa was tested on animals. The laws in this country required it. The suffering is rationalized away because of the benefit, saving all of us people totally justifies sacrificing innocent non-human animal life. Isn't curbing your selfish need to own a 20th pair of shoes the perfect justification for vivisection?

Human lives are not being saved by vivisection; in actuality, the reverse is happening. Every year, more and more people are dying of serious and debilitating diseases because companies like Forest Labs and Huntingdon Life Sciences are squandering needed money and resources on medieval science.

Perhaps, if we are lucky, these companies will stop pumping out drugs that pacify the public and come up with a pill that controls their inherent urges to lie, torture, kill, and profit off of the horrible crime that is vivisection.
